The Chumby 8 is the successor to the Chumby One and just like the Chumby One, the Chumby 8 is an enormously versatile consumer electronics device.
What do you do with Chumby and where does it belong?
Next to your bed: fall asleep to the music of your favorite Internet radio station, wake up to a Zen chime or the latest podcast, for example.
In the kitchen: Check your Google calendar for appointments in the morning, check the weather forecast to see if you'll need an umbrella or listen to Internet radio while cooking.
On your desk: Look at photos in the stream, see what your friends are up to on Facebook or follow eBay auctions.
The great thing about Chumby is that you can use the Internet completely without a computer, as it works in a similar way to a smartphone or tablet PC. All you need is a permanent internet connection, e.g. via a WLAN router. On the Chumby website has over 1500 apps in 30 categories, all of which are free. So all you have to do is create an account on Chumby.com, download the right app to your Chumby and you'll always get the latest information on your favorite topics.
Chumby 8 has a large 8-inch touchscreen with a resistive display, which means that it reacts to pressure. You can therefore operate Chumby simply with your fingertip or a stylus (not included).
Even if you don't have an internet connection to use the apps, you can still connect your MP3 player, a USB stick or a memory card and play your own music collection via Chumby.
