Description Youth Programming Starter Kit

The creators of Jugend Programmiert have made it their mission to make the often seemingly mysterious world of programming accessible to everyone - guaranteed without boredom. With a Kickstarter campaign, they have finally made this kit a reality. You don't need any previous experience and should only know how to operate a computer and, of course, have a little curiosity and enthusiasm for technology. This kit is for the use with a Raspberry Pi, which is not included.

The enclosed starter book guides you step by step through the learning process, which is always directly linked to the practical application. So you don't have to memorize a series of commands or anything. The first point after the introduction is, for example How do I set up the Raspberry Pi?. Everything is explained step by step, so you really don't need a computer science degree to find your way around. :) But you probably won't want to study anything else in the end anyway.

Contents
At the latest from the point in the starter book What can all this stuff from the package do? you can get to grips with the contents of the starter kit. You'll find it in the set:

  • Youth programming book

  • Cheatsheet, a cheat sheet or notepad for connections, commands and troubleshooting

  • 1 jumper cable set (30 pieces) M->F

  • 1 jumper cable row (30 pieces) M->M

  • Connection board

  • 5 different colored LEDs in green, yellow, red, white and one RGB LED

  • 3 push buttons

  • 12 different resistors

  • DHT11 air temperature and humidity sensor

  • BMP180 Air pressure sensor

  • LCD2004 Display 20 x 4-character display

  • This may all sound rather cryptic to you, but that's what the instructions are for. Once you have finally got to grips with your Raspberry Pi, you can, for example, measure the temperature at your workplace and set an LED to light up when a certain temperature is reached. Time to open the window again. The starter kit provides the structure, components and required commands.

    The aim is, of course, to create your own functions later on. If you get stuck, you can contact the community directly or do your own research on the Jugend-Programmiert website. Each chapter in the starter book refers to the corresponding page on the web, where you can ask your questions directly.

    So if you are interested in programming, the Youth Programming Starter Kit is the perfect way to get started. In addition, all you need is a Raspberry Pi B+ or B2.
