Description Kopimism
Sweden must be a great country, not only because of the delicious kötbullar, the safe cars and the cosy log cabins on secluded lakes, but above all because pirating is a recognized religious belief there since 5 January 2012! Sounds strange? But it is.
DET MISSIONERANDE KOPIMISTSAMFUNDET or also Missionary Church of Kopimism was founded by Isak Gersona member of the youth organization of the Swedish Pirate Party. Gerson also has connections to the Pirate Bay, but contrary to all suspicions, he denies that his church foundation has anything to do with the file hoster.
So what exactly does such a Kopimist believe in (the name is derived from the phonetically similar sounding copy-my phonetically similar)?
He believes in information, it is sacred to him. The more it is disseminated, the more sacred it becomes - regardless of how it is disseminated. Copying is therefore considered a sacrament, while copy protection and copyright are considered a sin. That sounds really good :)
Anyone who feels called can become a member. There are no boring church services, instead so-called kopyactings are organized instead - meetings where members share information with each other by copying and remixing.
If only everywhere was as beautiful as Sweden...
