Description Linus Walleij - Copyright does not exist

This book tells the story of hackers in an essayistic style. It deals with dedication, computer programs, official authority, and brilliant scientists. The protagonists are hippies, yippies, freedom fighters, anarchists, and classical socialists. They form the mixed culture of hackers from the 60s to the 90s - a culture between chaos and order: on one side, the quiet computer rooms where only the clicking of keyboards can be heard, and on the other, the loud techno rave parties in European factory halls. The book not only describes the roots of the hacker scene - it also provides a philosophical justification for why information cannot be 'owned' but should always be regarded as a common good.

The author Linus Walleij, born in 1972 (Sweden), has been part of the subculture of the demo scene, hackers, and crackers for more than 20 years. As a member of the legendary cracker group 'Triad,' he has insight into the beginnings and structures of the scene like few others.

The book Copyright does not exist has 323 pages.
