Description Metal detector kit
As with almost every hobby, there are, of course, persistent stereotypes when it comes to treasure hunting with a metal detector. The so-called 'detectorists' are mainly seniors or nerds searching for lost items on the beach with their socks pulled up to the limit, shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and fanny packs... yeah, yeah. Hey - at least they've probably never lost a valuable piece of jewelry, so who’s laughing last here?
But seriously: We find both technology and archaeology exciting. And what's cooler than searching for historical relics with a self-built device in Nathan Drake fashion (okay, not quite - but almost!) - even if they are just those you declared lost a long time ago.
The assembly of the DIY metal detector is very easy and thoroughly described in the included manual (in English). The package contains 3 cardboard parts for folding and assembling and a few electronic components. The only thing you need now is a 9V block battery. And who knows, maybe this metal detector will be the gateway to a new hobby. :)
But beware, if you actually make an archaeologically significant find, you should not conceal it but report it to the State Archaeological Office. Even treasure hunters have a code of honor! ;)
