Description Pendulum shaft

First of all, we need to clear up a misunderstanding: this pendulum is not the big brother of the Newton pendulum. This means that it does not demonstrate the conservation of momentum and energy. At least not very clearly ;)
But the Wave" pendulum illustrates the dependence of the period of oscillation on the length of the thread. In short: the shorter the thread, the shorter the period of oscillation. This means that the ball reaches its two end positions earlier - but it does not oscillate faster than a ball on a longer thread! So T = 2 x Pi x root I/mgd. Here you can read the whole thing again in detail.
Since all 15 balls of the pendulum have threads of different lengths, each has its own oscillation period. This creates an optical wave movement that seems to become more and more complicated and pulls apart more and more until all the spheres come together again. You can see what this looks like in the video on the left. :)
Now you just have to manage to push all the balls at the same time. This is very easy with the enclosed bar. So don't throw away this inconspicuous piece of wood when unpacking, it's not part of the filling material! The auxiliary strip is made of the same material and in the same color as the frame of the pendulum itself, so you can add it without it detracting from the overall look.
The Pendulum Wave is further proof that science can be beautiful. Even in the eyes of those who are less obsessed with physical phenomena. Incidentally, a small entertainment bonus is that any uninitiated person will try to hit the last ball - just like with Newton's pendulum ;)
