The inventor of Fanta was actually an employee of the American Coca-Cola Company, who worked for the company in Germany in the mid-20th century. When some ingredients for Cola could no longer be delivered due to a trade embargo during World War II, a new drink was made from available ingredients and illegally imported sugar. It was so popular that it has survived to this day despite various changes in the recipe.
