Angus MacGyver (at that time the model nerd) taught us that almost any problem can be solved with ingenuity - combined with practical knowledge of chemistry and physics. By unconventional use of common household items, he always managed to free himself from seemingly hopeless situations and win the fight against the villains.
We also owe it to him that we (theoretically) know how to build a hot air balloon from an old refrigerator, propane gas bottles, and bed sheets, how to put out small fires with sodium and vinegar, or how to plug a leak in a sulfuric acid tank with chocolate. Nevertheless, there are still a few everyday problems for which we would like a solution from our great role model...
