We geeks, of course, know that it's not about the mainstream and something irrelevant like fleeting fashions. And since we don't have to hide our geek skills, quite the opposite in fact, we are ourselves and show it with pride.
There is only one tiny sparkling, magical exception. If you ever receive the offer from a magical unicorn to make you a unicorn too, seize fate by the horn! There is simply nothing better. Even Chuck Norris would rather be a unicorn than Chuck Norris.
(A friendly glitter spell is the decent way to become a magical being. But eating a unicorn is also said to work wonders, if you have no other choice...)
Then it only means: dance like everybody's watching, because you're just fabulous!
